You get post-retirement complimentary (PRC) passes after 20 YEARS of railway service.

• GAZETTED, PLPM 8 TO 17: First Class 'A', 3 SETS a year
• NON-GAZETTED, PLPM 6 AND ABOVE: First Class, 2 SETS a year
• NON-GAZETTED, PLPM 5: Second Class 'A', 2 SETS a year
• NON-GAZETTED, PLPM 4 TO 1: Second or Sleeper, 2 SETS a year

Employees in Level 1 are entitled to PRC passes and PTOs (Board's letter E(W)2010/PS-5/8-4 dated 02.03.2012). The Combined Book agrees: 3 sets for gazetted officers, and 2 sets for Group C after more than 20 years (letter of 05.08.2014).रेल सेवा के 20 वर्ष बाद आपको सेवानिवृत्ति पश्चात मानार्थ (पीआरसी) पास मिलते हैं।

THE OLDER SCALE OF POST-RETIREMENT PASSESसेवानिवृत्ति पश्चात पास का पुराना पैमाना

Before the present scale, sets rose with service beyond 20 years.

• GAZETTED: 20 but under 25 years, 2 sets a year; 25 years and above, 3 sets
• GROUP C: 20 but under 25 years, 1 set a year; 25 years and above, 2 sets
• GROUP D, Pass Rule notes: 1 set a year after 20 years
• GROUP D, guide: 1 set a year after not less than 25 years

The guide prints Group C as "less than 20 years, 1 set", which reads like a slip for the 20-to-25 band. The PassRules summary says Group D passes were for self and wife only. If you are asked about today, every non-gazetted level gets 2 sets after 20 years.वर्तमान पैमाने से पहले, 20 वर्ष से आगे की सेवा के साथ सेट बढ़ते थे।

WHO GOES ON A POST-RETIREMENT PASSसेवानिवृत्ति पश्चात पास पर कौन जाता है

• Spouse and children, on the same conditions as for serving employees
• A spouse married after retirement
• Children above 21 who are BONA FIDE STUDENTS, in research, working as articled clerks, or invalid on a Railway doctor's certificate
• Widowed or legally divorced daughter
• Widowed mother
• Family, in the case of Group D
• Handicapped wards

If you studied the older rule, note that it differed. Group D passes were for self and wife only, and adding children or dependent relatives needed the GM to condone it.

Two groups get 5 years added to their service when the 20-year condition is checked.

• MEDICALLY DECATEGORISED OR UNFIT staff who retire because they refuse an alternative post, or none is available
• VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT, on the conditions in Board's letter No. E(P&A)I 77 RT-46 dated 09.11.1977

So if you retire voluntarily with 16 years of service, the extra 5 years take you past 20.20 वर्ष की शर्त जाँचते समय दो समूहों की सेवा में 5 वर्ष जोड़े जाते हैं।

SERVICE OUTSIDE THE RAILWAYSरेलवे के बाहर की सेवा

Service in other departments before you joined the Railways does not count, with exceptions.

• Ex-servicemen, and Central Government employees recruited in the Railways: half of that earlier Central Government service counts
• Where non-railway service was counted with railway service for pension, half of it counts to make up a shortfall in the 20 years
• RBE 152/2019: half of past service in Central or State Governments counts for ex-servicemen and retired lateral entrants

• In that year, you get single journey PRC passes equal to the privilege passes of the year that you have not used
• The PRC passes you apply for after retirement must not exceed your yearly PRC entitlement
• Schedule II: privilege passes issued just before superannuation run their normal validity, even past the retirement date
• The total passes in service and after retirement must not exceed your in-service entitlement for that year

GETTING YOUR POST-RETIREMENT PASSESअपने सेवानिवृत्ति पश्चात पास कैसे लें

• ADVANCE ISSUE: one set of PRC or widow pass for journeys next year, debited to next year's account, valid 5 months (RBE 41/2012)
• The SCR compilation also allows that one set in the last month of the current year, again valid 5 months
• ANY OFFICE: draw your passes from any authorised office you choose, whatever the Railway you retired from
• Combined Book: open your pass account in a railway office after retirement, and ask for passes by registered dak on railway account
• IDENTITY: the pass issuing authority verifies you, and the Railway issues an identity card with photographs of you and eligible family
• HUSBAND AND WIFE BOTH RETIRED: each may use passes on the other's account

Carry that identity card whenever you travel on a post-retirement pass.

WHEN POST-RETIREMENT PASSES ARE CUTकब सेवानिवृत्ति पश्चात पास कटते हैं

• NILGIRI RAILWAY: passes to retired employees are not valid there in April, May and June
• KEEPING A RAILWAY QUARTER WITHOUT AUTHORITY, 1982 letter: one PRC pass is stopped for each month, or part above 10 days, of unauthorised occupation
• THE SAME, 1999 letter: one set of PRC pass is stopped for every month of unauthorised retention

The Pass Rule notes give both letters: E(G)81-QR1/51 of 24.04.1982 and E(W)99/PS-5-1/41 of 03.11.1999. The later one counts in sets. If you retire, vacate your quarter in time or you lose passes.

• नीलगिरि रेलवे: अप्रैल, मई और जून में सेवानिवृत्त कर्मचारियों के पास वहाँ मान्य नहीं
• बिना अधिकार रेलवे क्वार्टर रखना, 1982 का पत्र: अनधिकृत कब्जे के हर महीने, या 10 दिन से अधिक के भाग, के लिए एक पीआरसी पास रोका जाता है

A COMPANION INSTEAD OF AN ATTENDANTपरिचारक के बदले साथी

This is for retired employees and widows who hold a First Class or First Class 'A' PRC or widow pass.

• AGED 65 AND ABOVE: a companion in the higher class, paying the FULL difference between sleeper or second and the class you travel in. Not on Rajdhani or Shatabdi
• AGED 70 AND ABOVE: a companion in the same class, paying ONE-THIRD of that difference, in all trains including Rajdhani and Shatabdi, within berth limits
• The 70-plus facility is lost if a family member below 70 travels with you
• You opt for it when you apply, and the pass is endorsed

The Combined Book gives only the 70-plus rule (letter of 09.09.2009). The Pass Rule notes of 1999 allowed a companion above 65 if no family member below 65 was on the pass, with both travelling in sleeper.यह उन सेवानिवृत्त कर्मचारियों और विधवाओं के लिए है जिनके पास प्रथम श्रेणी या प्रथम श्रेणी 'ए' पीआरसी या विधवा पास है।
