• Valid for self and companion for life, but granted for one year and renewed every year
• Issued only at divisional or zonal headquarters

The Combined Book says it is for freedom fighters and widows drawing a Central Government pension, applied for with a copy of the PPO. A second pass after losing the first costs Rs 150. If you are asked whether the pass is valid on the Kolkata Metro, the answer is no.

• PASSRULES SUMMARY: one complimentary cheque pass a year from the duty station to any station and back, valid 2 months, plus PTOs valid 2 months

If you are asked the validity today, the SCR compilation gives 5 months; the older summary gave 2.

PASSES FOR UNION MEETINGSयूनियन बैठकों के लिए पास

• WORKING COMMITTEE MEETING: passes to all office bearers and members on the federation's list
• GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING: passes to office bearers of recognised unions only, one for every 2000 members, as per entitlement
• PNM MEETING IN THE BOARD'S OFFICE: First Class passes to all federation members taking part
• DIVISIONAL PNM MEETINGS: special duty passes to office bearers of each recognised union, not more than 20 passes
• BRANCH UNION WORK: one card pass for a nominated office bearer, or 12 single journey cheque passes

If you are an office bearer and lose a duty pass, the penalty is Rs 50 for First Class and Rs 35 for Second Class.

• COMBINED BOOK: 4 First Class card passes to union office bearers for union activities and organisational functions, and 2 card passes with photo, by name
• PASS RULE NOTES, ZONAL LEVEL: one card pass per division, with a minimum of six
• Two of those are general card passes
• Card passes issued in the names and designations of office bearers are also valid up to Delhi
• Two card passes go to divisional office bearers

The SCR compilation treats office bearers of recognised unions and federations, serving or ex-railway, at par with serving employees for loss of passes. So if you lose one, you pay what a serving employee pays.

WHOLE-TIME EMPLOYEES OF UNIONS AND FEDERATIONSयूनियनों और फेडरेशनों के पूर्णकालिक कर्मचारी

The pass facility extends to whole-time employees of zonal recognised unions and federations, on this scale:

• 1st and 2nd year of service: nil
• 3rd to 20th year: one set a year
• 21st year and above: two sets a year
• No post-retirement passes on retiring from union or federation service

The SCR compilation lists them among the special passes. If you are asked whether they get post-retirement passes, the answer is no.पास सुविधा क्षेत्रीय मान्यता प्राप्त यूनियनों और फेडरेशनों के पूर्णकालिक कर्मचारियों तक इस पैमाने पर जाती है:

• AN MP: 1AC or Executive Class, with spouse, from any place to any place, and one attendant in 2AC
• AN MP'S SPOUSE: 1AC or Executive Class, from the place of residence to Delhi, any number of times
• A FORMER MP: 2AC with a companion in the same class, on the ex-MP photo identity card from the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha

If you are asked who gets 1AC with spouse from any place to any place, the answer is a sitting MP.

• सांसद: जीवनसाथी के साथ, किसी भी स्थान से किसी भी स्थान तक 1एसी या एक्जीक्यूटिव श्रेणी, और 2एसी में एक परिचारक

NON-RAILWAY ORGANISATIONSगैर-रेलवे संगठन

The GM may use his discretion to grant special passes, provided:

• The rules and orders do not specifically prohibit such passes
• And no definite rules in the manual or Board's orders exist for the case

Complimentary passes to non-railwaymen or bodies not connected with railway working, which are not customary, go to the Railway Board for sanction. Customary ones, such as for railway users' consultative committees and passenger amenities committees, the GM may issue. Those are not higher than First Class, and carry no attendant in second class. So if you are asked who sanctions a non-customary complimentary pass, the answer is the Railway Board.महाप्रबंधक अपने विवेक से विशेष पास दे सकते हैं, बशर्ते:
