Do not confuse voluntary retirement with PREMATURE RETIREMENT in the public interest. Voluntary retirement is asked for by the employee; premature retirement is ordered by the administration under Rule 1802 of IREC Volume II, and no notice from the employee is involved.स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति को लोकहित में समयपूर्व सेवानिवृत्ति से न मिलाएँ। स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति कर्मचारी माँगता है; समयपूर्व सेवानिवृत्ति प्रशासन आईआरईसी खंड 2 के नियम 1802 के अंतर्गत आदेशित करता है, और उसमें कर्मचारी का कोई नोटिस नहीं होता।

A notice of voluntary retirement may be WITHDRAWN before it takes effect, but only with the approval of the competent authority. The employee cannot withdraw it as of right once it has been accepted.स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति का नोटिस प्रभावी होने से पहले वापस लिया जा सकता है, किंतु केवल सक्षम प्राधिकारी के अनुमोदन से। स्वीकृत हो जाने के बाद कर्मचारी उसे अधिकार के रूप में वापस नहीं ले सकता।

A permanent employee must give 3 MONTHS' notice, while a temporary railway servant must give ONE MONTH's notice.स्थायी कर्मचारी को 3 माह का नोटिस देना होता है, जबकि अस्थायी रेल सेवक को एक माह का नोटिस देना होता है।

Pension on voluntary retirement is worked out on the service ACTUALLY RENDERED. There is no addition of notional years, so a servant who goes at twenty-two years is pensioned on twenty-two years.स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति पर पेंशन वास्तव में की गई सेवा पर निकाली जाती है। काल्पनिक वर्ष नहीं जोड़े जाते, अतः जो सेवक बाईस वर्ष पर जाता है उसे बाईस वर्ष पर ही पेंशन मिलती है।

Voluntary retirement is not the same as RESIGNATION, and the difference is the whole of a retired life. The two-year bar on re-employment exists to stop the same person retiring on pension and returning to a paid post at once.
