• Paras 561 and 562 — OBJECT AND SCOPEEach railway sends the Board an ANNUAL REPORT reviewing the year's working in all departments. It covers matters that materially affect the results, or are of general interest. It is meant for the use of the RAILWAY BOARD and the railway's own administration. The report has FOUR parts.
  • I — REPORT PROPER, the narrative
  • II — FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, the capital and revenue accounts
  • III — ANALYSIS OF WORKING, statistical statements
  • IV — APPENDICES, statistical statements
• Para 563 — RESPONSIBILITY FOR PREPARATIONThe ADMINISTRATIVE HEAD of the railway prepares and submits it. The ACCOUNTS OFFICER compiles the financial statements and supplies other figures needed. So the GM owns the Annual Report while Accounts supplies its figures, and you should know its four parts.

• पैरा 563 — तैयारी का उत्तरदायित्वरेल का प्रशासनिक प्रमुख इसे तैयार कर प्रस्तुत करता है। लेखा अधिकारी वित्तीय विवरण संकलित करता है और आवश्यक अन्य आँकड़े देता है। अर्थात् वार्षिक प्रतिवेदन महाप्रबंधक का है जबकि आँकड़े लेखा देता है, और आप उसके चार भाग जानिए।

• Para 564 — SECTION I-REPORT PROPERSigned by the HEAD OF THE RAILWAY, it reviews the year's working.
  • Reasons for variations in gross receipts and departmental expenditure, usually against the previous year
  • Exceptional events such as FLOOD DAMAGE, and the measures taken
  • Important fluctuations in operating results, with their causes
  • Major works undertaken or completed
  • Steps to improve facilities for travellers, particularly LOWER CLASS passengers
• Para 565 — SECTION II-FINANCIAL STATEMENTSStatements of the capital and revenue transactions, prepared under the Accounts Code, Part I, Chapter VII.
• Para 566 — SECTION III-ANALYSIS OF WORKINGStatistical statements used for 'Indian Railways-Annual Statistical Statements', with rolling stock, revenue and operating statistics.
• Para 567 — SECTION IV-APPENDICESStatements on the NUMBER AND COST OF STAFF, accidents and similar matters. So Section I is the only one the Head of the Railway signs, and you should know what it must contain.

• पैरा 564 — खंड I - मूल प्रतिवेदनरेल प्रमुख द्वारा हस्ताक्षरित, यह वर्ष के कार्य की समीक्षा करता है।

  • यात्रियों, विशेषकर निचली श्रेणी के यात्रियों, की सुविधाएँ सुधारने के कदम
• पैरा 565 — खंड II - वित्तीय विवरणपूँजी और राजस्व लेन-देन के विवरण, लेखा संहिता भाग I के अध्याय VII के अनुसार।
• पैरा 566 — खंड III - कार्य का विश्लेषण'भारतीय रेल - वार्षिक सांख्यिकीय विवरण' के लिए प्रयुक्त सांख्यिकीय विवरण, चल स्टॉक, राजस्व और परिचालन आँकड़ों सहित।
• पैरा 567 — खंड IV - परिशिष्टकर्मचारियों की संख्या और लागत, दुर्घटनाओं और ऐसे विषयों के विवरण। अर्थात् केवल खंड I पर रेल प्रमुख हस्ताक्षर करता है, और आप जानिए उसमें क्या होना चाहिए।
