A TENURE POST is a permanent post held for a limited period. It is permanent as a post, but the incumbent holds it only for a fixed term.कार्यकाल पद एक स्थायी पद है जो सीमित अवधि के लिए धारित किया जाता है। पद के रूप में यह स्थायी है, किंतु धारक इसे केवल निश्चित अवधि तक रखता है।

When an OCCUPIED post is surrendered, it is treated as a SUPERNUMERARY POST for as long as the incumbent is not posted elsewhere.जब कोई भरा हुआ पद समर्पित किया जाता है, तो जब तक धारक अन्यत्र पदस्थ नहीं होता तब तक उसे अधिसंख्य पद माना जाता है।

A supernumerary post is PERSONAL to the incumbent, its creation can lead to the sanctioned strength being exceeded, and NO promotional benefit is available against it.अधिसंख्य पद धारक के लिए व्यक्तिगत होता है, इसके सृजन से स्वीकृत संख्या से अधिक हो सकती है, और इसके विरुद्ध कोई पदोन्नति लाभ उपलब्ध नहीं होता।

The money value of a surrendered post is taken as the MEAN PAY plus Dearness Allowance on the relevant date.समर्पित पद का मूल्य संबंधित तिथि पर औसत वेतन और महँगाई भत्ता माना जाता है।

FOREIGN SERVICE means service in which a railway servant receives pay, with the sanction of Government, from a source OTHER than the Consolidated Fund of India or of a State or Union Territory.विदेश सेवा का अर्थ है वह सेवा जिसमें रेल सेवक सरकार की स्वीकृति से भारत या किसी राज्य या संघ राज्यक्षेत्र की संचित निधि के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य स्रोत से वेतन प्राप्त करता है।

The period of COMPULSORY WAITING by an officer for Government orders posting him to a particular post, after he has reported for work, is treated as DUTY.किसी अधिकारी द्वारा कार्य हेतु रिपोर्ट करने के बाद उसे किसी विशेष पद पर पदस्थ करने के सरकारी आदेशों की अनिवार्य प्रतीक्षा की अवधि ड्यूटी मानी जाती है।
