Railway servants, both PERMANENT and TEMPORARY, may be declared medically unfit for the post they hold. Where they are declared fit for posts in a LOWER MEDICAL CATEGORY, they are eligible to be continued in service in such posts. So the first answer to medical unfitness is alternative employment, not retirement. If you are declared unfit for your own post, the first question is whether a lower-category post can be found for you.रेल सेवक, स्थायी और अस्थायी दोनों, अपने धारित पद के लिए चिकित्सा दृष्टि से अयोग्य घोषित किए जा सकते हैं। जहाँ वे निम्नतर चिकित्सा कोटि के पदों के लिए योग्य घोषित हों, वहाँ वे ऐसे पदों पर सेवा में बने रहने के पात्र हैं। अर्थात् चिकित्सा अयोग्यता का पहला उत्तर वैकल्पिक नियोजन है, सेवानिवृत्ति नहीं। आप अपने पद के लिए अयोग्य घोषित हों, तो पहला प्रश्न यही है कि आपके लिए निम्नतर कोटि का कोई पद मिल सकता है या नहीं।

A TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE WHO IS DECATEGORISEDजिस अस्थायी कर्मचारी की कोटि घटती है

The temporary employee is read separately, and the reading is harder. It applies where he becomes medically decategorised on account of circumstances NOT arising out of and in the course of employment. Alternative employment must then be found within the leave, the extension of leave or the extraordinary leave granted under the rules. If it is not found within that time, he should be DISCHARGED from service. IF THE OFFER IS REFUSEDयदि प्रस्ताव ठुकरा दिया जाए

Where the offer of alternative employment has been REFUSED, the railway servants concerned should be RETIRED. The authority the guide cites for this reading is 304 RI. So refusing the lower post is itself the act that ends the service.जहाँ वैकल्पिक नियोजन का प्रस्ताव ठुकरा दिया गया हो, वहाँ संबंधित रेल सेवकों को सेवानिवृत्त किया जाना चाहिए। इस पाठ के लिए गाइड 304 आरआई का प्राधिकार देती है। अर्थात् निम्नतर पद को ठुकराना ही वह कार्य है जो सेवा समाप्त करता है।
