WHAT RETIREMENT MEANSसेवानिवृत्ति का अर्थ

Retirement means the railway servant CEASING TO BE IN SERVICE. It is not a benefit you apply for. It is the moment your service comes to an end, and everything else — pension, gratuity, passes — follows from that moment. So the first thing any question about retirement turns on is the DATE. Fix the date and the rest falls into place.सेवानिवृत्ति का अर्थ है रेल सेवक का सेवा में न रह जाना। यह कोई लाभ नहीं है जिसके लिए आप आवेदन करें। यह वह क्षण है जब आपकी सेवा समाप्त होती है, और बाकी सब — पेंशन, उपदान, पास — उसी क्षण से निकलता है। इसलिए सेवानिवृत्ति का हर प्रश्न सबसे पहले तिथि पर टिकता है। तिथि तय कीजिए, बाकी अपने आप जुड़ जाएगा।

THE DATE OF BIRTH ON RECORD DECIDESरिकॉर्ड में दर्ज जन्म तिथि तय करती है

Your date of retirement is worked out from your date of birth as it stands ON RECORD.

• For non-gazetted staff, the date of birth recorded in the SERVICE REGISTER or SERVICE RECORD
• For gazetted staff, the date of birth in the CLASSIFIED LIST of Gazetted Establishment

No other paper decides it. That is why an entry in the Service Register is guarded so closely.आपकी सेवानिवृत्ति की तिथि आपकी उसी जन्म तिथि से निकाली जाती है जो रिकॉर्ड में दर्ज है।

• अराजपत्रित कर्मचारियों के लिए, सेवा पंजिका अथवा सेवा अभिलेख में दर्ज जन्म तिथि
• राजपत्रित कर्मचारियों के लिए, राजपत्रित स्थापना की वर्गीकृत सूची में दर्ज जन्म तिथि

कोई और कागज इसे तय नहीं करता। इसीलिए सेवा पंजिका की प्रविष्टि इतनी सँभालकर रखी जाती है।

BORN ON THE FIRST OF A MONTHजिसकी जन्म तिथि माह की पहली है

One line in the chapter is asked more often than any other, and it is this one. Is your date of birth the FIRST OF A MONTH? Then you retire on the afternoon of the LAST DAY OF THE PRECEDING MONTH, on attaining sixty. So a man born on 1 July 1966 retires on the afternoon of 30 June 2026, not 31 July. Everyone else retires on the afternoon of the last day of the month in which he attains sixty.इस अध्याय की एक पंक्ति बाकी सबसे अधिक पूछी जाती है, और वह यही है। क्या आपकी जन्म तिथि माह की पहली तारीख है? तब आप साठ वर्ष के होने पर ठीक पिछले माह के अंतिम दिन अपराह्न सेवानिवृत्त होंगे। अर्थात् 1 जुलाई 1966 को जन्मा व्यक्ति 30 जून 2026 के अपराह्न सेवानिवृत्त होगा, 31 जुलाई को नहीं। बाकी सब उसी माह के अंतिम दिन अपराह्न सेवानिवृत्त होते हैं जिसमें वे साठ के होते हैं।

THE FOUR WAYS SERVICE COMES TO AN ENDसेवा समाप्त होने के चार रास्ते

The chapter lists four nodes by which the service of a railway servant may come to an end.

• NORMAL RETIREMENT on superannuation
• Retirement due to MEDICAL INVALIDATION
• PREMATURE RETIREMENT ordered in the public interest
• PREMATURE or VOLUNTARY retirement on his or her own option

Only the last of these is in your own hands. Keep all four apart from COMPULSORY RETIREMENT, which is a penalty under the Discipline and Appeal Rules.अध्याय चार रास्ते गिनाता है जिनसे रेल सेवक की सेवा समाप्त हो सकती है।

• अधिवर्षिता पर सामान्य सेवानिवृत्ति
• चिकित्सा अयोग्यता के कारण सेवानिवृत्ति
• लोकहित में आदेशित समयपूर्व सेवानिवृत्ति
• अपने विकल्प से समयपूर्व अथवा स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति

इनमें से केवल अंतिम आपके अपने हाथ में है। चारों को अनिवार्य सेवानिवृत्ति से अलग रखिए, जो अनुशासन और अपील नियमों के अधीन एक दंड है।
