MATERNITY LEAVEमातृत्व अवकाश

The number of days changed over the years, so the guides disagree. Learn the current figure, and know the old one.

• HOW LONG
  • Current: 180 DAYS from the start of the leave, as the Combined Book gives it
  • Earlier: 135 DAYS, from 07.10.1997 (Board's letter dated 10.11.1997), as the Establishment Rules guide and both leave notes give it
• WHO GETS ITA female railway servant, including an apprentice, with FEWER THAN TWO SURVIVING CHILDREN. It is admissible to an UNMARRIED female railway servant too. The CPC Leave Rules note extends it to ad hoc, casual and temporary female staff. The Establishment Rules guide covers female staff with temporary status (Board's letter dated 25.06.1991). A woman who marries a widower is also covered. His children from his late first wife are NOT counted against her (Board's letter dated 05.10.1999).
• PAY AND ACCOUNTYou are paid the pay drawn just before the leave. It is NOT debited to your leave account, and it may be combined with any other kind of leave. The Combined Book words the account point as not debited "upto 135 days".
• LEAVE IN CONTINUATIONLeave of the kind due, up to ONE YEAR, may follow maternity leave WITHOUT a medical certificate. The Combined Book says this may include LND and commuted leave up to 60 days. Leave beyond that needs a medical certificate, for illness of the mother or the new-born child.
• MISCARRIAGE OR ABORTIONLeave is admissible on a medical certificate from the authorised medical attendant, whatever the number of children. The limit is 45 DAYS in the whole service (Board's letter dated 28.04.1997). The Leave Rules note gives the limit as six weeks.

• WHO AND HOW LONGIf you are a male railway servant, including an apprentice, with FEWER THAN TWO SURVIVING CHILDREN, you get 15 DAYS during your wife's confinement.
• WHEN IT MAY BE TAKENThe guides word the window differently:
  • CPC Leave Rules note: from 15 days BEFORE, up to SIX MONTHS after, the date of delivery. If not taken in that window, it LAPSES
  • Establishment Rules guide: during the confinement, or before 135 days from the date of delivery (Board's letter dated 08.04.1999)
  The Combined Book applies it where the child was born not earlier than 180 days before 07.10.1997, the date of the order.
• PAY AND ACCOUNTYou get the pay drawn just before the leave. It is NOT debited to the leave account, and it may be combined with any other kind of leave. The CPC Leave Rules note says it is sanctioned in a single spell. The Combined Book says it may not normally be refused.

CHILD CARE LEAVEबाल देखभाल अवकाश

The Combined Book prints this leave sub-rule by sub-rule, and cites it as Rule 551(E) of IREC Volume I.

• (1) WHO AND HOW LONGA FEMALE railway servant, and a SINGLE MALE railway servant, may get up to 730 DAYS in the whole service. It is for the TWO ELDEST SURVIVING CHILDREN, for rearing or for needs such as education and sickness.
• (2) WHO IS A CHILD
  • A child BELOW 18 YEARS
  • An offspring of ANY AGE with at least 40 PER CENT DISABILITY
  The old age limit of 22 years for a disabled child was REMOVED by RBE 162/2018.
• (3) CONDITIONS
  • Not more than THREE SPELLS in a calendar year. A SINGLE FEMALE railway servant may take SIX
  • Not ordinarily during PROBATION, except in extreme situations, and then for a minimal period
  • Not for LESS THAN FIVE DAYS at a time, from 13.06.2018 (RBE 162/2018)
• (4) PAY100 PER CENT of salary for the first 365 days, and 80 PER CENT for the next 365 days.
• (5) TO (7) COMBINATION AND ACCOUNTIt may be combined with any other kind of leave. Leave due of up to one year, including up to 60 days' commuted leave and LND, may follow it without a medical certificate. It is NOT debited to the leave account.
• THE EXPLANATIONA SINGLE MALE RAILWAY SERVANT means an unmarried, widowed or divorced male railway servant. If that describes you, you are eligible on the same terms.

• (4) वेतनपहले 365 दिन वेतन का 100 प्रतिशत, और अगले 365 दिन 80 प्रतिशत।
• (5) से (7) संयोजन और खाताइसे किसी भी अन्य अवकाश के साथ जोड़ा जा सकता है। इसके बाद देय अवकाश, एक वर्ष तक, बिना चिकित्सा प्रमाणपत्र लिया जा सकता है, जिसमें 60 दिन तक का परिवर्तित अवकाश और अदेय अवकाश शामिल है। यह अवकाश खाते से नहीं घटता।

LEAVE FOR AN ADOPTIVE MOTHERगोद लेने वाली माँ के लिए अवकाश

If you adopt a child, the Combined Book lets you take leave of the kind due and admissible, without a medical certificate. The length depends on the child's age.

• Child LESS THAN ONE MONTH old: up to ONE YEAR
• Child SIX MONTHS old: up to SIX MONTHS
• Child NINE MONTHS OR MORE: up to THREE MONTHS

The limit of one year is reduced by the age of the child. The facility is NOT available to an adoptive mother who already has two children.यदि आप कोई बच्चा गोद लेती हैं, तो कंबाइंड बुक आपको बिना चिकित्सा प्रमाणपत्र देय और स्वीकार्य प्रकार का अवकाश लेने देती है। अवधि बच्चे की आयु पर निर्भर है।
