Governed by Lok Sabha Rule No. 9. If a cut motion is adopted it amounts to a vote of no confidence, and the Government is obliged to resign as per the norms of the House.लोक सभा नियम संख्या 9 के अंतर्गत। यदि कटौती प्रस्ताव स्वीकृत हो जाए तो यह अविश्वास मत के समान होता है, और सरकार को सदन की परंपरा के अनुसार त्यागपत्र देना होता है।

There are THREE kinds, and the amount identifies each. Disapproval of Policy reduces the demand to ONE RUPEE. Economy Cut reduces it by a SPECIFIED AMOUNT. Token Cut reduces it by ONE HUNDRED RUPEES.तीन प्रकार हैं, और राशि से प्रत्येक की पहचान होती है। नीति की अस्वीकृति माँग को एक रुपये तक घटाती है। मितव्ययिता कटौती उसे निर्दिष्ट राशि से घटाती है। सांकेतिक कटौती उसे एक सौ रुपये से घटाती है।

The decision to admit a cut motion rests solely with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.कटौती प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार करने का निर्णय पूर्णतः लोक सभा अध्यक्ष का होता है।

The TOKEN CUT is not about money at all. Reducing a demand by a hundred rupees is a device for airing one specific grievance — the sum is symbolic and everyone in the House knows it.सांकेतिक कटौती धन के बारे में है ही नहीं। माँग को सौ रुपये से घटाना एक विशिष्ट शिकायत उठाने का उपाय है — राशि प्रतीकात्मक है और सदन में सब जानते हैं।

Disapproval of Policy Cut — the demand is reduced to ₹1.नीति की अस्वीकृति कटौती — माँग घटाकर ₹1 कर दी जाती है।

The ECONOMY CUT says the amount is too high, not that the policy is wrong. It asks for the same thing to be done for less.मितव्ययिता कटौती कहती है कि राशि अधिक है, यह नहीं कि नीति गलत है। वह यही काम कम में करने को कहती है।

Economy Cut — the demand for grant is reduced by a specified amount.मितव्ययिता कटौती — अनुदान की माँग एक निर्दिष्ट राशि से घटाई जाती है।

Cut motions lie only against DEMANDS FOR GRANTS, which means only against voted expenditure. Charged expenditure is not voted, so no cut motion can be moved against it.कटौती प्रस्ताव केवल अनुदान माँगों के विरुद्ध होते हैं, अर्थात् केवल मतदेय व्यय के विरुद्ध। भारित व्यय पर मतदान नहीं होता, अतः उसके विरुद्ध कोई कटौती प्रस्ताव नहीं लाया जा सकता।

Token Cut — the demand is reduced by just ₹100, to ventilate a specific grievance against the Government.सांकेतिक कटौती — माँग केवल ₹100 से घटाई जाती है, ताकि सरकार के विरुद्ध किसी विशेष शिकायत को व्यक्त किया जा सके।
