The NISPG divide a facility into zones of rising security.

• PUBLIC ZONE: open to the public, such as the grounds and public corridors
• RECEPTION ZONE: where entry from the public zone to restricted areas is controlled
• OPERATIONS ZONE: limited to staff who work there, and escorted visitors
• SECURITY ZONE: authorised staff only, monitored continuously
• HIGH SECURITY ZONE: screened staff, with every access recorded and audited; the server hall belongs here

Every visitor you admit signs the register, shows photo identity, wears a temporary card, and is escorted. So the deeper the zone, the fewer the people and the more the records.एनआईएसपीजी किसी सुविधा को बढ़ती सुरक्षा वाले क्षेत्रों में बाँटते हैं।

• सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र: जनता के लिए खुला, जैसे परिसर और सार्वजनिक गलियारे
• स्वागत क्षेत्र: जहाँ सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र से प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्रों में प्रवेश नियंत्रित होता है
• संचालन क्षेत्र: वहाँ काम करने वाले कर्मचारियों, और साथ लाए आगंतुकों तक सीमित
• सुरक्षा क्षेत्र: केवल अधिकृत कर्मचारी, निरंतर निगरानी में
• उच्च सुरक्षा क्षेत्र: जाँचे हुए कर्मचारी, हर पहुँच दर्ज और लेखा-परीक्षित; सर्वर हॉल यहीं आता है

आप जिस भी आगंतुक को आने देते हैं, वह रजिस्टर में हस्ताक्षर करता है, फोटो पहचान दिखाता है, अस्थायी कार्ड पहनता है, और साथ ले जाया जाता है। अर्थात् क्षेत्र जितना भीतर, लोग उतने कम और अभिलेख उतने अधिक।

POWER, COOLING AND CABLINGबिजली, शीतलन और केबलिंग

• PRECISION AIR-CONDITIONING runs round the clock and controls both temperature and HUMIDITY
• Too dry air causes static discharge; too humid air causes condensation and corrosion
• Racks face in HOT AISLE and COLD AISLE rows, so cool air enters the fronts and hot air leaves the backs
• Servers sit in 19-inch RACKS; one rack unit, 1U, is 1.75 inches high
• CLEAN POWER comes through an ONLINE UPS backed by a diesel generator, with a dedicated, low-resistance EARTH
• STRUCTURED CABLING in a star keeps the cable plant orderly and easy to change

You never let the server hall depend on one source of power. So the UPS bridges the gap until the generator takes the load.

• स्वच्छ बिजली डीजल जनरेटर के सहारे वाले ऑनलाइन यूपीएस से आती है, समर्पित, कम प्रतिरोध वाली अर्थिंग के साथ
• स्टार में संरचित केबलिंग केबल व्यवस्था को व्यवस्थित और बदलने में आसान रखती है

आप सर्वर हॉल को कभी बिजली के एक ही स्रोत पर निर्भर नहीं रहने देते। अर्थात् जनरेटर के भार उठाने तक यूपीएस बीच का अंतर भरता है।

DATA CENTRE OPERATIONSडेटा केंद्र संचालन

• The OPERATIONS MANUAL sets the standard procedures, shift duties, escalation and change control
• BACKUP STRATEGY: full, incremental or differential backups on a schedule, with copies kept OFF-SITE
• DISASTER MANAGEMENT: a DR site and a tested plan to bring services back within the agreed time
• HOUSEKEEPING: keep the hall clean, with no food or paper clutter, and label every cable and device
• RECORDS: keep logs, visitor registers, backup registers and maintenance contracts on file for audit

You should test a restore regularly, because an untested backup may fail you. So procedure, backup, recovery and records keep the data centre running.

• बैकअप रणनीति: समय-सारणी पर फुल, इंक्रीमेंटल या डिफरेंशियल बैकअप, प्रतियाँ बाहर के स्थल पर रखी जाएँ
• आपदा प्रबंधन: एक डीआर स्थल और परखी हुई योजना जो सेवाओं को सहमत समय में वापस लाए
• हाउसकीपिंग: हॉल साफ रखें, खाना या कागज का ढेर न हो, और हर केबल तथा उपकरण पर लेबल लगाएँ
• अभिलेख: लेखा परीक्षा के लिए लॉग, आगंतुक रजिस्टर, बैकअप रजिस्टर और रखरखाव अनुबंध फाइल में रखें

आपको नियमित रूप से बहाली परखनी चाहिए, क्योंकि बिना परखा बैकअप धोखा दे सकता है। अर्थात् प्रक्रिया, बैकअप, पुनर्प्राप्ति और अभिलेख डेटा केंद्र को चालू रखते हैं।
