An EMBEDDED SYSTEM is a computer built into a device for one dedicated job. A washing machine controller is one example.

• FIRMWARE is its software, held in non-volatile memory: ROM, EPROM, EEPROM or flash
• You write it in C or assembly on a PC, CROSS-COMPILE it for the target processor, and test it
• BURNING writes the code into the chip with a device programmer
• An EMBEDDED OS, often a REAL-TIME OS, responds within a guaranteed time; VxWorks, FreeRTOS and embedded Linux are examples
• The embedded application software reads sensors and drives the outputs

PLCS AND LADDER LOGICपीएलसी और लैडर लॉजिक

A PLC, PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER, is a rugged industrial computer that controls machines and processes.

• It runs a SCAN CYCLE: read the inputs, execute the program, update the outputs, and repeat
• LADDER LOGIC draws the program like relay wiring: each RUNG has CONTACTS on the left and a COIL on the right
• A NORMALLY OPEN contact passes when its input is on; a NORMALLY CLOSED contact passes when it is off
• TIMERS and COUNTERS delay or count events
• IEC 61131-3 sets five PLC languages: ladder diagram, function block diagram, structured text, instruction list and sequential function chart

DATA LOGGERSडेटा लॉगर

A DATA LOGGER records measurements or events over time, with a time stamp, for later analysis.

• It reads its inputs from sensors or contacts, and stores the readings in its own memory
• It works unattended, often on battery, and you download the data to a PC
• On Indian Railways, data loggers at stations record every change of the signalling relays
• That record helps you trace faults and investigate accidents

So a data logger is a recorder that keeps a time-stamped history.डेटा लॉगर बाद के विश्लेषण के लिए समय के साथ मापन या घटनाएँ, समय-मुहर के साथ, दर्ज करता है।
